We monitor about 550 devices with our installation ... where it's about 50%/50% network equipment vs. servers (where it's about 90% windows vs. *nix) ...
What we've noticed is that the issue can be provoked by using the Google Maps portlet in the dashboard - this may leave the webinterface unresponsive for several minutes. And it's not like the hardware is weak - this is a 2x Xeon 5130 system with 4GBs of RAM ...
