I just spent a couple of days trying to get an installation of Zenoss 2.1
running on Ubuntu 7.10 Server. It turned into a hellish exercise in
frustration. I am left with the impression that I installed this and missed
some prerequisite.

The web interface worked perfectly well, and I was able to set up all of my
organizers, and entered in all of my network, and subnet information.

Then it came time to discover a device. Zenoss refused to discover anything.
It even went so far as to do almost nothing.

I tried running zendisc run --net=10.1.1.0

And was rewarded with:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/local/zenoss/bin# ./zendisc run --net=10.1.1.0
./zendisc: line 13: /bin/zenfunctions: No such file or directory
./zendisc: line 21: generic: command not found

I want to start over with this. I intend to wipe my drive and freshly install
the Server. Please let me know what prerequisite I was missing.

Also is it necessary to have net-snmp installed and functioning BEFORE running
the install.sh script?
