I appear to have this same issue on the 2.1 VM. 127.0.0.1 is set to localhost.localdomain and localhost. The IP number for the real hostname is correct, and if I do a hosts on the IP, I get the machine name (not the localhost.localdomain entry). But In the event console I just constantly keep getting the hearbeat failures?
What needs to be changed to get Zenoss to realise that is not localhost, but the actual machine name. I've changed hosts, hostname, eth0 configs, and everything I can think of.
