I saw the earlier thread about website monitoring using check_http from
nagios and I have it working. Now I have around 100 websites to monitor
all on one web serving cluster. Is it really best practice that I would
go into the device template for the device hosting the websites and make
a custom copy of the template and then add a datasource using the
check_http plugin for each and every one? This template thing seems to
be hidden way deep in the guts of zenoss and doesn't seem like the right
place to be sticking so many important checks.
And if I am going to be checking so many websites is there any way to
copy/paste each of these data sources and then just change the url and
string to check for so I don't have to do so much work to set them up?
