ah yes well that was my mistake to run as root. running as zenoss gave me a more meaningful error message that port 8081 was in use. BLOODY JBOSS!!!
What's with all these programs loving to use the 8000 series port numbers.. jboss, tomcat and now zenoss.. AARGGH!!! Zenoss scripts should return SUCCESS or FAILED on the startup i reckon.
