One thing you may look at. We're connected via MPLS and have an extensive routing table. It was recommended to us, that if we don't need to see (we've never seen) the 'link' lines between the locations to go into Browse By -> Networks -> zProperties tab and set the zDrawMapLinks to False and Save. The Google map is still slow to display, but it is displaying now.
