I'd expand this a bit - when running large numbers of servers, there are situations that generate a 'Zenoss flood' of unimportant alerts that cause us not to notice the truly important ones.
For example, if I restart a database, I'd like to see the alert about the database, but don't need to see hundreds of alerts about everything that uses the database "failing" and then "recovering" (though one alert per class of machines would be nice). Of course, the events should be available in case I want to dig into details. The hard part of this is that in normal operation, the "minor" alerts are important. For example, a single Tomcat outage would be important, and worth alerting. But dozens of them at once aren't useful, they're a distraction.
