Can someone please explain to me why I keep getting these ridiculous values
when querying against Cisco switches? I've been reading and searching for an
answer for the last couple of days, but have yet to find an answer that makes
sense to me? Please, I don't have much hair left to pull out...
FastEthernet0/23 threshold of Utilization 75 perc exceeded: current value
938339.61
938339.61? <<< Where is this value coming from? I don't get this value when I
use snmpget or when I check values against MRTG or Solarwinds Orion to check the %Util.
I'm using a fresh, no mods install of Zenoss v2.1.1 on CentOS 5.

The ethernet counter reports the number of octets that have been
counted. Zenoss records the difference between the number of octets
reported now against the number of octets recorded 5 minutes ago
((Octets @ t)-(Octets @ t-300sec)) / 300 seconds to show the number of
octets per second. Zenoss converts octets to bits per second using
octets/8. So your 10 MB/s (10,000,000 mb/s) interface has a 100%
utilization at 10,000,000 mb / 8 * = 1,250,000 and a 75% threshhold of
10,000,000 mb / 8 * .75 = 937,500 octets/sec. Your current value
938,339.61octets * 8 = 7,506,716.88 mb/s or 7.507 MB/s
