Sorry for the slow response.  Create a datasource called ping, or whatever,
and use the following as your command template

check_ping -H ${dev/id}  -w100,80% -c500,100% -p1  | sed 's/, RTA = /
RTA=/;s/ loss = / |loss=/'

That runs the zenoss check_ping plugin and returns values for the round trip
time (ping time) and packet loss.

Now just create two data points, one called RTA and one called loss  and
graph to your hearts content.
