Mtonpe:
I have not been successful at overcoming the build problem. I'm not convinced
the Sun Studio 12 x86 version libraries were going to work for me (either they
are not 64-bit or there are some flags that need to be set somewhere), but I
would imagine that the SPARC version should be ok. At any rate due to time
constraints, I had to abandon my Solaris efforts and went with a different
solution: I used Ubuntu server ("Fiesty Fawn"), and the build went very
smoothly.
I also got lucky because at almost the same time, VMware came out with a patch
that upgraded their support to include VMware tools specific to Ubuntu, RHEL5,
and other OS'es.
I used these two online how-to docs to complete my build:
http://www.howtoforge.com/zenoss_network_monitor_ubuntu
http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/install-guides/install-on-ubuntu-7.04/
Now, there is an Ubuntu Server version that is built to run on UltraSPARC based
processors, but I don't know about compiler libraries, etc. and what other
kinds of compatibility issues you might face there.
Sorry I can't be of more help for the Solaris 10 build. But, even those that
were "successful" with their Solaris version builds on slightly older version
of zenoss had stability issues. Maybe there's a reason why there's no longer a
how-to guide specific to Solaris on the zenoss site....
Anyway, best of luck to you.
