I have been asked to help test various open source monitoring softwares. I have finished testing hyperic and a fellow worker has installed Zenoss on a unbntu linux system. I was asked to participate in testing Zenoss. Is there any docuemntation on getting started with monitoring 1 external (to Zenoss server) system.? . I just want to add a remote system to monitor and even just fetting the local Zenoss machine to show data in the various portlets would be helpful. I just cant seem to get started here and cant find a simple HOW TO to get started. Any help would be great. I am NOT a linux admin so that makes things even tougher, I can logon to the Zenoss URL on the Zenoss machine, so Zenoss is running. Where do I go from here. I have snmp opened up on the remote system and can do snmpwalk commands . I am a unix person with minimal knowledge. I havc not used snmp much at all either, but will be using it in monitoring.
