I am a wannabe network admin with a network admin position with a very steep learning curve. I am trying to test out Zenoss on my network. I started on a windows box because that is what I am most familiar with. However, I can install on a linux machine if it is better.
Anyways, Installation was fine, but when I logged in, I had a red status message telling me 127.0.0.1 could not be pinged because it was being used by someone else. I modified the etc hosts to indicate localhost as the virtual machine's IP and not the actual machine's IP. That fixed that red status message and replaced it with. SNMP agent down on device localhost. /status/snmp. I downloaded and installed a bunch of zenpacks and ran the device/network discovery options....but I got nothing. It is not detecting anything. The test server is a windows xp pro box right now. SNMP is installed, but I dont know much about it. Do I need to setup a community and have each machine point to the zenoss server? -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=14174#14174 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
