Is there a way to add a device that does not have a community string and only supports access via snmp v3 users?
I've setup net-snmp on a windows box that has a few snmp v3 users on it but does not have a community string set. I can hit it with snmpwalk from my zenoss install but can't add it as a device. I created a new device profile with all the secure zProperty strings set per http://www.zenoss.com/community/docs/zenoss-guide/2.1.1/apds02.html and try to create a device under this profile thinking that it would use the security when adding the device. This just returns a "no snmp found for ip=..." error. The only work around I've found so far is to create a community string for the device, add it to zenoss, set the snmpv3 values, then restart the device with the community string removed. This lets me keep access through snmp v3 without having a community string available. It works but is a pain to do. -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=14214#14214 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
