Hi! We have ~300 servers, and many of those are HP ---- so getting the serial number and hardware model from these isn't really a problem because a collector plugin exists (HPDeviceMap).
We also have a bunch of IBM servers. What could we do to get the hardware model and serial number from these? I've looked at installing IBM Director, and this works to some extent --- no IBMDeviceMap Collector Plugin exists, so this needs to be written as far as I can tell. I've looked at installing Insight Manager on other boxes than HP, but that's simply not supported. One of our (many) goals is to have automatic synchronization between ZenOSS and our CMDB --- but having this information available is kind of essential :) I bet someone else in here is monitoring IBM servers? Has anyone solved this? How?
