We are a hosting provider that uses VMware to host our clients servers' on virtual machines. However we have all our clients behind a firewall. In using Zenoss to monitor our infrastructure I have found that it is difficult to monitor these VMs without using SNMP. We can see the vservers by IP address under the Networks tab, however, is there a way to monitor our clients servers without having to activate the SNMP service on all our clients servers, or adding them as devices individually. All we want to be able to do is to monitor their ping, so that if the ping goes down we get alerted.
Any help would be appreciated.
