For many years, now, we have been using WhatsUp Gold for network monitoring. We have now setup a Zenoss Core server and are looking at transferring everything to that.
One of the things we like about WUG is that we can configure it to send alerts at pre-determined times to let us know the network status. For example, we have it send an e-mail every weekday morning and evening at 6:00AM and 8:00PM; on weekends, every 4 hours. The e-mail simply tells us that everything is up - or that some devices are still down. The MAIN reason for doing this is simple: it assures us that the monitoring system is working. If we were to have a telecom problem at the office, or if our e-mail server would be down during the weekend, how could we know? By using these periodic alerts,we KNOW that everything is running. Is there any way of doing something similar in Zenoss? Thanks!
