Hello, Where can I find some information describing how to extend support for a particular vendor within Zenoss?
If it helps to clarify what it is that I hope to achieve, here is a bit of an overview. At the moment, in our office we are managing quite a lot of Foundry Networks hardware. There are a lot of interesting bits of information that can be extracted from their enterprise portion of the mib. - cpu utilization - device temperature - memory utilization and so on. What I would like to know is how to go about getting Zenoss to poll/graph/alert on some of these enterpise specific values. I've looked through the tree, and as best I can tell, I need to do at least the following: 1/ create a collector plugin that fetches the values from the device ( these seem to live at: zenoss/Products/DataCollector/plugins/zenoss/snmp ) 2/ create another device type ( /Network/Switch/Foundry or similar ) 3/ add the Foundry specifc collector plugin to the above 4/ after this it would seem that I need to figure out how to tell Zenoss to use this set of templates for our existing Foundry switches, or delete them and see if they are picked up during auto-discovery. Assuming for the moment that I am close to being on the right track it would be very helpful to be pointed to some instructions that describe how to do this. Of course, if I have completely misunderstood what I need to do, that would be good to know as well. cheers! -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=15058#15058 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
