I'd like to use zensyslog as our logserver if possible. we currently have syslog-ng (which we really like) setup as our logserver on another host. It is setup to file messages based on HOST/DATE/etc - which makes it pretty simple to traverse all the logs.
I saw some documentation that says zensyslog can be setup to write to a file as well. Will it support a similar format as syslog-ng? Also, I have syslog-ng running as a client on my zenserver and zensyslog running as the server. this seems to be OK (both run without complaining of port conflicts). I have the zenoss server's syslog agent set to send messages to itself using it's IP address and I have another system's syslog agent set to send messages to it as well. The local syslog files says "Error connecting to remote host AF_INET(w.x.y.z:514), reattempting in 60 seconds" - so it would appear that zensyslog is not accepting connections or that syslog-ng has hijacked the port and not allowing zensyslog to use it. Is this the case? Where can I find more documentation on how to setup zensyslog? There was reference to a document in the Wiki entry on syslog - but I didn't see a link. thanks!! -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=15592#15592 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
