Success! Thank you all for your help! Some notes for those non-linux users:
1. You cannot just run zenoss. You have to go to $ZENHOME/bin as zenoss user and then run ./zenoss 2. You cannot start the services correctly as zenoss user, you will get permission denied for things. Just reboot after deleting the *.zec files. 1. "su zenoss" 2. "cd $ZENHOME/bin" 3. "./zenoss stop" 4. "rm -f $ZENHOME/var/*.zec 5.
