I am new to the usage of general SNMP management systems, such as Zennos. Also, I wish to manage something which is not a classic communications network. Instead, we wish to manage a number of items of mailing machinery, in various locations, each location containing a number of SNMP nodes within a single IP sub-net. Like communication SNMP nodes, each machinery node has a number of get/set parameters which control the operation of the node (or present performance parameters) and a number of pre-defined events (traps).
My first question is; is zennos configurable to the extent it will accommodate such new types of nodes ? In other words, is Zennos solely for the support of communications networks or is it flexible to the extent that it will accommodate management of nodes which are of a different topology and behaviour (as long as they support SNMP rules and functionality. Secondly, the demonstration video on the Zennos site only demonstrates monitoring functionality; what is the mechanism for editing node parameters ? For example ( as an illustration only ), once you have found out that a bearer is overloaded, you might, for example, want to open up a node on the screen and "set" the routing priority for that bearer.
