After months of testing, I have finally decided to build a zenoss server and work it into production (moving from nagios/cacti)...As I have continued to load my devices into the system, I am now getting gaps in my graphs. The breaks occur at random times and are on all the hosts (about 40). Being a relatively new user, I'm not sure what to look for. I am running this on a brand new dell server with 2 GB of memory, and a quad core processor. I am running the most up to date version of zenoss (2.1.3). I really love this product and would love to roll it out...If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be most appreciated.

Gaps in the graphs can be a lot of things. The first place to look would be in $ZENHOME/log/zenperfsnmp.log. The important lines to look for are the following. They tell you how many data points are being collected, how many devices are being collected and how long it took. The time should never approach 300 seconds or you'll be in danger of overrunning the collection cycle and getting gaps in your graphs.

2008-05-13 04:08:52 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: sent 1281 OID requests
2008-05-13 04:08:52 INFO zen.zenperfsnmp: collected 49 of 52 devices in 10.49

Another common cause for gaps would be a wandering clock. Make sure you use ntp to a reliable time source to keep your clock accurate.
