What kind of report are you trying to create? As far as I can tell, for a custom device report you can set the "path" for a report to /Groups/Example and it will report on the devices therein.
For a multi-graph report, you can use set the Item Type to "group" and filter by group there. What I wish you could do is have multiple filter criteria, like you can with alerts. i.e. you could filter by both device class and group. Is that what you're trying to do?
