i'm kind of stuck. i have a development LDAP server that we're building out.
it's up and running. if i try to monitor it from within zenoss, i relentlessly
get "could not bind to the ldap-server". however, if i run

/opt/zenoss/libexec/check_ldap -H dirsrv.XXXXXXX.com -b dc=ops,dc=XXXXXXX,dc=com

it happily reports back
LDAP OK - 0.002 seconds response time|time=0.002171s;;;0.000000

running 2.2 on CentOS 5.1 (within a xen instance, not that that should make a
difference). i'm unclear what i might be doing wrong. i've tried it with
appropriate info filed in for ldap within the zProperties, and with nothing
filled in. makes no sense.
