I think it will depend on exactly what you want to do. You can use that
tip to generically restart services, and if you want to use event
mappings to then match you can. Alternatively, where I only have one or
two systems with one or two services, you can create custom event
commands with specific matches to device and or service name via the
summary field.
I think your event mapping idea might be better for scalability, though
if you want to do something where any service that dies on a subset of
computers, you could also just create a
/Devices/Server/Windows/Servicerestart class and use that for filtering
also. This does have other logical implications though for performance
monitoring template inheritance, so I think you still might be better
off with event mappings (though I haven't tried them, so can't speak to
how well that works).

I am going to use this very very cool tip for restarting windows services.

But what I need to do is only have a service restarted on a case by case basis. Not every server or service. I have well over 500 Windows servers and only certain admins will want this feature. Since I am new to Zenoss I thought I would ask the best way to do this.
Would be best if I could use the provided tip and just maybe change the service
in question to use a different /Event/Status/Winservice Class. Was thinking if
they want to have the service restarted they just map it to something like
/Event/Status/Winservice_restart.
Not sure if this will work, but any help would be great.
Thanks
