In about 2 weeks, we'll be having our planning meetings for the next
major release. There will be more 2.2.X releases, starting with 2.2.1
in a week or so, with 2.2.2 a few weeks after that with the intention
of monthly releases of Zenoss Core that are stability and bug-fixes
with minimal new features. The current plan is for 2.3 to come out in
the Fall.
We're still working out the best way to integrate community feedback
into planning and your input is valuable to us. We want to be as
responsive to the Zenoss Community as we are to our Enterprise
customers. Please post or email me your ideas and requests and I'll
make sure your input is part of the 2.3 planning. We can discuss them
here and flesh them out and I'll report back on what's coming down the
road.
Here is my first pass for suggested 2.3 features:
Better stability and upgrade testing
Error codes for a common error repository (similar to Oracle)
Localize the strings in the UI and CLI so the application can be
easily ported to other languages
Layer two Mapping
Asterisk and SMS integration for alerts
