I have been playing with this as well and found out a few things. Still trying
to get it all worked out so any info would help me as well.

1) MySQL cluster under Redhat Clustering.
Easy enough to monitor both physical servers.
The VIP does not get added to Zenoss after a scan because it does not answer
for SNMP. I add it by hand and place it in a new class that has no collector
plugins and snmp turned off. The thing is I want to monitor stuff like the SAN
mounts, tcp 3306, mysql, etc on the VIP but SNMP is not reliable on the VIP,
sometimes it answers but most of the time it does not. The MySQL templates
seem to work fine since they run on the MySQL port. Also the SQL datasource
works fine

2) MS SQL under Microsoft clustering
Easy enough to monitor the physical servers
Want to monitor stuff on the VIP like above. But WMI is not listening on the
VIP, so I can’t use any of the performance templates against the VIP to get
perfmon counters. Not sure what to do next on this one. The SQL datasource
works fine

What we want to do is monitor any resource that floats with the VIP (services,
processes, SAN, Ports, etc) on the VIP and just the normal server stuff on the
physical. To be honest I have not found a monitoring product that does this
very well yet. If I can get SNMP and WMI on the VIP to work right then it
would be perfect.
