I'm new to Zenoss but so far am phenomenally impressed with it. I'm a long term Nagios user looking to replace my What'sUp Gold package with Zenoss to increase my OSS usage.

But I digress. I'm use to being able (with Nagios) to poll any oid and basically monitor for if != to X then warn/critical.

I've read enough to realize that the interface ifOperStatus doesn't change unless the device is remodeled. But, is there a way to create a poller based on the oid that's not interperated as an interface to generate a warning on?

We commonly have problems with dot11radio0 on our Cisco APs going down when we have PoE problems and we just need the dashboard to through up a warning when that interface registers as down. Perhaps a poller that has min/max ranges of 1, which is up while 2 is down and warn because it's outside of range....

Can anyone point the way? Or am I just spinning my wheels?

I recently did a fairly comprehensive write-up on this. Check it out.
