I just installed Zenoss and am trying to get the SNMP trap function
to work with our Cisco ONS 15454 shelves. I have loaded the MIBS,
but I put them in a directory that is quite different from what the
docs show. The docs show $ZENHOME/share/mibs/site but I was unable
to find that dir after the install. I did find /usr/local/zenoss/
common/share/mibs/site. So I added the mibs there.
After the mibs were added to that dir, I ran
/usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/bin/zenmib run CERENT-GENERIC-MIB.mib
/usr/local/zenoss/zenoss/bin/zenmib run CERENT-TC.mib
The mins are in Zenoss (I see them under the /mibs from the left
side menu).
When i send a trap to Zenoss though the trap is not decoded. It is
listed as an unknown trap and shows the OID.
I am confident that the definition is in the file (it is the same
file that I used to import the mibs from for snmptraptranslate.
What else do I need to do?
There are a few things you should check. First of all, in the web
interface under /Mibs you should verify that some notifications were
actually loaded for the MIBs you imported. If there are, and their
OIDs match the ones that are coming in on the events, move on to the
next step.
The next step would be to restart the zentrap daemon. This can be done
by running "zentrap restart" as the zenoss user. This will cause the
daemons to reload all MIB definitions. Ideally this should not be
necessary so I created a ticket to have zentrap automatically notified
of changes to your imported MIBs.
Ticket #3409: zentrap not notified of changes in loaded MIBs
