I grouped all of my applications servers into groups based on the applications
they are running. The purpose of this was to able to run commands that trigger
scripts on the servers within the group. So, you'd go to the group, click the
down arrow, select run command and choose the one you want. I then realized
that you can't click on the check boxes of the listed devises to specify which
servers you want to run the command against. No matter what, it runs the
commands on all devises within the group. Is there a way to fix this? I know
you can build commands directly into the "settings" tab, but doing so (because
we have so many applications) will create a very long list. I know you can
create commands for specific devises too (individually) but this doesn't scale,
for each time we add a server that runs the same app as another, we will have
to add the commands to it individually and it will be hard to keep track of
which devises have commands added to them. As stated above, a
dding it to a group which houses the commands, doesn't allow you to point to
specific servers to run the command against, which is frankly, really
dangerous. Although devises are grouped together, the assumption that you
always want to do the same thing to every devise listed in the group is wrong
50% of the time.
