Hello,
first of all: Great approach! I really like the way Zenoss presents itself. I
am new to Zenoss and have made first steps with installations on OpenSuse 10.3
and Ubuntu Server 8.04 over last two weeks.
The forum has helped a great deal with my startup problems. Unfortunately I
have to report some issues that won't go away.
1) No installed software shows on Ubuntu Server even though I added the
HRSWInstalled map to the collector Plugins.
Note: The same procedure DOES work with my OpenSuse installation. How's that
possible?
2) The dreaded WMI Problems. I am trying to gather WMI info from two Windows
test devices: XP Professional and Vista Ultimate. I have the following setup:
- Activated the Administrator account from management/users
- Edited the SNMP login credentials within Zenoss and the Win accounts
- SNMP service configured for community "public" (as in example)
- SNMP Trap service activated
- RPC active
- RPC collector activated
- SNMP informant installed
- Opened port 161 in Windows Firewalls (do I need more?)
Note: 192.168.2.102 is the Vista device
After about an hour Zenwin finally goes out of business with the following log
entry:
2008-08-02 17:58:24 WARNING zen.zenwin: WMI Connection to 192.168.2.102 went

I try to research as much as possible because that "It don't work!" posts are
quite nagging. Help and a newbie explanation are really appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
