Thanks for the reply shaskell, just wanted to add a note that the ping
latency thread now has a ZenPack to go with it:
Nagios Check Ping ZenPack (http://www.zenoss.com/community/projects/zenpacks/nagios-check-ping
)
Thanks,

What I want to do next is to find out how to do this:
- Can I monitor a DNS response time? By quering a hostname to a DNS
server and watch its response time.
Yes. Have a look at $ZENHOME/libexec. These are the nagios plugins.
Setup a command check in a template to graph response time that's
output from this command.
- Can I monitor a host ping time? Link doing a ping with 5 packet
and logging the min/max/average response time
Yes. Have a look at:
http://community.zenoss.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3731&highlight=latency+graphing
- Can I monitor the pages printed in an snmp capable Printer? By
doing a snmpget to a Lan HP LaserJet.
Most likely. I'm sure that the printer has an OID that reports
printer statistics. You'll need to contact your vendor's website and
see if you can download a MIB to browse through or else snmpwalk
your printer and see if you can pick out meaningful data. From
there, create a template and graph what you want.
- Can I monitor hardware temperature in Windows XP base computers?
By installing the snmp-informant with the MDM plugin.
Have a look at the current community ZenPacks and see what's there.

If there isn't anything for temperature and the informant agent,
create a simple template that polls the OID for temperature.
