This is annoying. Trying to manually add the interface to the device refuses to let me input an IP address for some reason.

I've noticed this on NetScreens too. For whatever reason they decided to include partial information in the standard IF-MIB then implement their own NS-INTERFACE-MIB that includes information about all of the interfaces.

To get Zenoss to recognize these a new InterfaceMap modeler plugin would have to be created that understood this NS-INTERFACE-MIB.
