We are using a DNS solution which provides DNS on an HA pair, using
a VIF on the active server. The platform is linux-based, and I use
the Linux template to monitor both the active and passive hardware.

While the active server also answers DNS queries on it's main
interface, the passive server does *not*; this precludes me from simply monitoring them as two distinct DNS servers. I need to check DNS on the VIF.

Unfortunately, when zenoss discovers/models the hardware, it picks up the VIF address and attaches it to eth0; when I try to create a ping-only device with the HA/VIF address, zenoss throws an exception stating that the IP belongs to another device.

I tried to delete the IP's relation to the interface through the ZMI but can't.
Has anyone here figured out a solution to this?
