I was wondering if there is a way to perform trending on syslog messages. Some solutions that I would like to monitor (symantec endpoint v11 management console) only have a syslog option for remote logging, but does not expose SNMP for remote monitoring.
I would like to make specific events to classes, and then be able to trend the count of messages for that class over time. I'm receiving syslog messages just fine and mapping to event classes is no problem. I've created custom templates before based on snmp datapoints but didn't know if there was a way to use count of syslog messages as a datapoint.
