We've been experiencing some weird issues with the forums and the
mail2forum bridge lately. It appears Chet's post went to mail users
but didn't show up on the forum. IT is aware of the issue and
actively working on a solution. That said, here's Chet's response:
This OID decoding limitation has been part of Zenoss for a long
time. If the OID doesn't map exactly to something imported from a
MIB it won't decode it at all. I've just checked in a fix for this
that will make the decoding do "the best that it can" and leave you
with computerSystemFreeSwap.0 in this particular case. It will be
part of 2.3, but you can apply it to any 2.2.x version by running
"zenpatch 10491" as the zenoss user, then "zentrap restart"

Matt,
Thank you for responding. You mentioned that Chet answered the MIB
question ... sorry, but I don't see that in the forum. Can you
point me to Chet's answer?
Thank you,
Jamie

Subject: Re: [zenoss-users] Help understanding MIBs
I see Chet answered the MIB question. In response to understanding
MIBs better, perhaps check out a few online tutorials to get a feel
for it. I don't have a go-to guide to recommend, but I'm open to
suggestions.

Sorry but I don't understand the whole MIB subject. I know what
they are used for and the Administration guide (chapter 15) says
they are used to translate a OID to something meaningful.
