I am evaluating software to monitor our wireless ISP, and was wondering if
anyone has done this with Zenoss before? We have 300 APs with up to 6
interfaces each, less than 20 servers, and about 20 cisco routers... At the
moment we also have about 100 smart switches that are monitored as well, but we
may be phasing them out.
I need the following features:
Response time (latency)
Packet loss
Interfaces up/down
Interface errors/discards
Traffic receive/transmit
Memory used/available
CPU load
Disk space used/available
Applications (started, stopped, timed out)
Signal to noise
Channel
TX power
DHCP Leases used/available
Events (e.g. node down/up, rebooted, app reset)
Top 10 type displays for all fields (value definable later)
Thresholds set for each category to color code stats (yellow=warning, red=down)
Map type display (nodes to change color if thresholds are exceeded in any
function category)
Statistics display
Graph over time display
Customizable reporting (e.g. past 24 hours, past 30 days, between x-y dates or
times)
Description field for node (name/number contact info)
Am I asking too much? LOL
Any input would be greatly appreciated...
Zenoss should be able to do all of that, depending on two things:
1. The statistics actually being available via SNMP (and SNMP traps) on
the devices you want to monitor
2. Your level of integration (programming) experience
Zenoss doesn't currently do DHCP lease statistics out of the box, but it
shouldn't be difficult to integrate.
