Could you make the $ZENHOME/log, perf and var directories symlinks to
your usb device? I just did a "find . -mtime 0" on my home install
and those are the only Zenoss directories changed in the last day.
Thanks,

Hi,
I am starting Zenoss server on a bootable LiveCD, but I want
persistency files like the mysql database files and any other Zenoss
user-defined data files to be stored on an external USB Device for
persistency across reboots.
My first attempt involved only changing MYSQL stuff:
1. Modified my.cnl to point to the mysql/data directory on the USB
device.
2. Modified ctl.sh so the MYSQL_START command points to the datadir
on this external device.
It seems MYSQL starts OK, but then I get this error from the Zenoss
dashboard on the monitoring machine:
Type: OperationalError
Value: (1017, "Can't find file: './events/status.frm' (errno: 13)")
So, I'm guessing that there is other config file stuff that needs to
be modified.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
