Hmmm, I'm not sure theres an obvious way to stop Zenoss from starting all the daemons, but you can certainly stop them afterwards. If you're not using Windows monitoring, you should be able to get away with turning off ZenWin and ZenEventLog. You can certainly stop ZenJMX, that isn't running without that Zenpack installed so that ought to be safe. But you might get heartbeat errors from Zenoss.
As to desirability... Sometimes it's desirable to disable ZenModeler as it can really slow down your server every 6 hrs when it remodels devices. If you don't want auto re-modeling, then turning that off can make a difference. The rest... If you're not using them, they don't do much - If there's nothing in /Devices/Server/Windows, nothing's going to get scanned by ZenWin or ZenEventLog anyway, so you're only saving the minor overhead of the daemon running... Generally, if you're not having performance issues, I can't think of any reason to turn off part of Zenoss... -- James Pulver Information Technology Area Supervisor LEPP Computer Group Cornell University dksprout wrote: > Hello All, > > I've upgraded my Zenoss installation from 2.1.2 to 2.2.0, then to 2.3.0 > (running on CentOS 5) and now I'm working my way through the last of the > smaller tasks of my project. > > I've been looking for a way to disable the zenjmx and zenwin daemons while > keeping the zenpacks installed.
