All Great ideas and I would be, but the question remains, "How do I put them in the data point configuration in Zenoss?"
Do I have to write a custom collector plugin for getting the data, or is there a place in the template screens that I'm missing for "Transforming" what is returned by the snmpget and stored in the rrd file. (IE run this command on the snmp data returned.) I would even be happy with a field that is run this command to get the data. (I could put in an "snmpget -v1 -c $community $device $oid | cut -c9-" I'm fairly new to zenoss and things are starting to make sense. However I have yet to write a collector plugin, and am not exactly clear on how to do it. I've been reviewing the plugins in the collector plugins folder and looking at the dev manual, but for some reason the light bulb dangling above my head just won't light.
