as this continues unabated, i did some further poking around. the one thing
i've found is this: across all my devices, they now show - at the bottom of the
zproperties page, assorted 'z' items listed under 'delete local property'.
bunches of servers have nothing listed, while some servers have several. in the
case of this particular bothersome server, it lists:

zCollectorPlugins
zCommandPassword
zCommandProtocol
zCommandUsername
zDeviceTemplates
zMySqlPassword
zMySqlUsername

i have no recollection of having created these local properties - for that
matter, i don't know how to do so. the assorted properties listed for my
servers seems essentially random. some have none listed, many have one or two.

as a test, i deleted zSnmpCommunity from the 'local properties' listed on the
zproperties page of one of my servers - and now i'm getting alerts that SNMP is
down - even though i've rechecked all the snmp configs, and they're all listed
correction in zproperties and the server's 'edit' page.

i'm baffled. wtf is going on?
