I attempted to setup interface monitoring as described here: http://www.zenoss.com/Members/cluther/polling-interface-status/ I changed the default ethernetCsmacd template under /Devices. The only difference is that I set the Threshold value "Enabled" to "False". I did this so I could apply this only to specific interfaces on specific devices. I didn't want to get alerted for every network interface that was connected on the network. I set the severity to "Critical".
Then I went to one of my servers under /Servers/Linux, clicked on the OS tab, selected the second network card and clicked on the templates tab. I copied the ethernetCsmacd template locally and then under the Thresholds I set "Enabled" to "True". I unplugged the network cable for the secondary nic and waited about 5-10 min. Zenoss created an Event stating that my 2nd interface was down...however it was set to a Severity of 4 (Error) instead of 5 (Critical). I tried applying this template to various other network cards and testing...only to find the same result. I even tried modifying the template so that the Severity was 3 "Warning", but it still only sends out Error alerts instead of the needed Critical alerts. Has anyone else run into this or have any suggestions on how to further troubleshoot? -------------------- m2f -------------------- Read this topic online here: http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?p=28735#28735 -------------------- m2f -------------------- _______________________________________________ zenoss-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.zenoss.org/mailman/listinfo/zenoss-users
