While not exactly what you're trying to do, you may get some ideas for server-side scripting by looking at the Python scripts used for the Deki/Zenoss mashup. It might take a bit of hacking to get RSS feeds shaped up, but I'm using just plain vanilla blocks of dynamically generated HTML in the mashup. https://sourceforge.net/projects/zenossdeki/
