Hi all, On Tue Dec 23, 2008 2:32 pm I posted a topic "Temperature graph not working", where I described how I was unsuccessfully trying to add a graph showing the CPU temperature on my local linux box, the same in which the Zenoss daemons are running.
Actually, after install, I made Zennoss recognize my system on /Devices/Server/localhost, being connected to it aiming the browser to the URL http://localhost:8080/zport/dmd. It started drawing the default performance graphs. Afterwards I wanted to monitor the CPU temperature, I did all the steps described in "Temperature graph not working", being logged to to Zenoss with the browser on the URL http://io:8080/zport/dmd, where io is the LAN name of my PC. As described in my previous post the graph didn't draw any sample, even if the data-source test was correctly showing the SNMP readings of the OID. So what I did was to delete the data-source and its graph, to restart the machine (to be really sure), to open the browser on http://localhost:8080/zport/dmd and to redo all the steps for the CPU temperature graph configuration. And guess what? This time the graph did paint a nice green line of the SNMP readings! What do you think about this? Should it be considered a bug? Or is there something i'm missing? How are the graph data stored? I mean the data-source was reading correctly, but the graph was not showing anything. Looks like Zenoss is unable to store data if the /Devices/Server was created from a child of Zenoss which was on an alias of the network name on which the graph is created. Does it make sense? One would expect the IP being the key, am I wrong? Thank you and sorry for writing so much, it's just that the thing puzzles me a bit...
