Here's the update/solution to this, in case somebody is looking for it 
someday...

I put a working zCommandUsername and zCommandPassword in the zProperties for 
the /Device/Server/ESX class, and then started getting another error: "The 
command /usr/sbin/vdf -k returned stderr data (1) from the device: Unknown 
option: k". I logged into the ESX shell and confirmed that the -k option is 
invalid.

A little more digging in the VMware ESX ZenPack, and I found the command in 
$ZENHOME/Products/VMwareEsx/modeler/plugins/VmwareEsxDf.py... I edited the file 
and re-modeled the devices, and no more error events.

Okay, so maybe this was more trouble than it's worth (when I could've just sent 
the events to the /Ignore class), but it was at least it was educational. :D
