There are snmp restrictions in the router, however at this time only the
NMS subnet can poll via SNMP.
The server in question along with a few others all reside in the same
segment. This is why I am able to
poll the router using "getif" from a windows box. This validates two
things, first I have the right community
string and second the hosts in the NMS segment are allowed RO access.
I am fairly new to linux and therefore don't know the commands to ensure
SNMP is running in the box.
I downloaded the Zenoss VM because I thought all the necessary items for
a successful install will already
be in place. At this time, I can validate network connectivity and name
resolution. However I am unable to
get SNMP to work. Your assistance is appreciated.
