Well, I am still not able to get this to work, and I think it is something with
the check_by_ssh. I have refined by command to:
Code:

/opt/zenoss/libexec/check_by_ssh -l root -H ${device/manageIp} -C 'echo -n
Messages=; /usr/sbin/postqueue -p | /usr/bin/wc -l'

Which gives 'Messages=XXXX' both from command line or web test, but no graph.
I used a 'check_ping' where the ping RTA result was 'Messages=XXXX' and that
graphed OK. So the graphing seems OK, but if I used 'check_by_ssh' and as you
suggested 'echo Messages=XXXX' it does not graph.

I thought this would be quick, but now I am thinking does anyone know a Postfix
mail queue monitoring zenpack? Or have example of check_by_ssh working?
Thanks in advance!
