I have implemented the SmokePingish Latency Graphs as described in
http://www.zenoss.com/community/wiki/user-contributed/SmokepingishLatencyGraphs/
It looks pretty and on the surface 'appears' to be working correctly, but, when
you look in detail (what it is for) it seems to be giving me invalid values.
As a reference I am monitoring the primary router which is across a fibre in
another building. I have the real SmokePing running on another server here
looking at 5 sites so I can compare. Both the servers are plugged into the
core switch. The figures and graphs for the first router when viewed viw Zenoss
are horribly bad. SmokePing tells me that it is getting a RTT of 662uS (sounds
fair) but Zenoss is regularly giving me spikes of 350-400mS. I have tried
changing the ping a bit but it makes little difference apart from a larger
packet size tends to make it look a little bit better.
Any ideas?
Running 2.3.2 on SUSE 10.2 32 bit on top of ESX3.5sp2
