As noted in thread http://forums.zenoss.com/viewtopic.php?t=7327&highlight=zopectl, you need to delete the Asterisk zenpack as it's toxic:
su - su - zenoss zenpack --list or via the GUI: main->settings->ZenPacks -- ZenPacks.AndreaConsadori.Asterisk (/opt/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.AndreaConsadori.Asterisk-1.2-py2.4.egg) -- I deleted the Asterisk zenpack (easy via the GUI or using zenpack --remove in the CLI). Once I did that, I could create new data sources.
