The Ticket was closed as duplicate/solved. This was done on the basis that the solution to this issue is to upgrade to the upcoming major release Blue Crab...which is being released some time in the future. Below is a posting of my response to that as I feel putting it here will get it a little more exposure and more people are likely at least in the future to find the solution if Blue Crab is out by then, though I do not find it an acceptable solution.
