I am also having the same problem, I have created a copy of a default plug-in, edited the plug-in and saved as a py, the pyc was never created, so i compiled it. I have added the custom plug-in to the active plug-ins under the device's collector plug-ins, however when I model the device, it does not appear to run that plug-in.
